After a while, you kinda get tired of hearing everyone bash the people that try to help you out in life. I'm to the point now where I do not care if this offends anyone. More than likely, if this offends you, you have offended a lot of other people so get over it.
The graphic design program at WCC is not RISD. It isn't the most respected program in the college system. It is a two year design program to help prepare you for the work force. Chad and Brian try to show us the basics of design and how it is used to create pieces that people can say "wow" about. There was a key word in that last sentence: SHOW. They are not to spoon feed us the designs. They show us how to take on a project and guide us along the way if needed, which we have done it for 2 years now and shouldn't need it in the first place. If you have felt that Chad or Brian have screwed you over or havnt done their job well, chances are, its more your fault than theirs. You make each project. You get out of it what you put in. If you dont research it, dig into it, its going to look like crap, therefore looking bad on the program. I just hate to see people think that everythings going to be handed to you. For most people in the program, as soon as you get out into the real world, you'll be eaten alive, because you dont take the time to see whats "in" today but more importantly what will be "in" tomorrow. Don't you dare blame Chad or Brian for your lack enthusiasim. If you were serious about design and serious about having a career in design, you should be researching, learning, and being more dedicated to it, outside of the 2-3 hours we are at school.
The only thing that I feel Chad and Brian have not done well is critisim. They are way to easy on us and they let crap get by that would be laughable outside college. But, I can see why they do that. If I had people who were going to evaluate me badly just because I told them what I thought about the project, and put my job on the line, I might do the same. Do you guys not realize the fact that their jobs depend on how we evaluate them? Stop acting like a 10 year old and take constructive criticism the way it was intended, to help you make a piece better. Dont be bitter about it. Grow up!
Attention Chad and Brian: If you read this, please do this...step up and be the authority in the classroom. Tell each student what you think because we grow that way. We see what we done wrong and learn how to fix it and make it better. Please do not let people run over you. You both are great guys and I am honored to call you both friends but first and formost you are my instructors. I would expect you to have the same attitude.
If this offended you, like I said earlier, I'm not that sorry. Not harsh feelings, its just that you need to grow up before you get out in the real world and these past 2 years have meant nothing.

Word. I couldn't agree more my friend. I'm so sick of hearing negative stuff about the program. I also agree about the whole having to tip toe around peoples feelings. The whole fact of the matter is if you can't take some constructive input on your design work then you need to find a different line of work. I think Mcdonalds has some openings. "I'm lovin' it."
Well, let me tell you what I think Mr. "A.D."....
AMEN!!
I couldn't have said it better myself and let me tell you, I am pretty good at saying what I think when I get heated!
Love ya man...
